Messages and threads

Messages are delivered in real time and routed to each of your signed-in devices. Conversation state includes read receipts, typing indicators, message grouping, and recent conversation ordering.

1. Open a channel, direct message, or group conversation.
2. Type your message in the composer.
3. Add formatting, mentions, files, reactions, or poll content when needed.
4. Send the message and watch for delivery, replies, reactions, and read state.

Threads keep side conversations attached to the message that started them. The app tracks thread subscriptions and automatically subscribes you when you reply.

Messages support markdown for common formatting, links, inline code, and code blocks. Desktop and mobile support syntax-highlighted code blocks; desktop also includes code review comments and versioned code edits.

You can edit or delete messages you send. Changes are broadcast to recipients so the conversation stays consistent across signed-in devices.
