Files and media

Upload, download, view, and remove files while server-side access checks, encryption, range requests, thumbnails, retention, and audit records protect file workflows.

Share files

File sharing supports chunked upload and download with a 500 MB limit, image thumbnail generation, inline image/video viewing, and access checks that match the conversation where the file was shared.

  1. Open the channel, direct message, group conversation, or meeting chat.
  2. Attach the file from the message composer.
  3. Wait for the upload to complete.
  4. Send the message so teammates with access to the conversation can view or download the file.

View and download

Images and videos can be viewed inline where the client supports it. Downloads support range requests so large media can stream efficiently.

Remove files

Senders can remove their own file attachments where the UI exposes that action. Retention policies can also remove old attachments. In both cases, chat history keeps a tombstone so recipients understand that the item was removed.
